Special Topic: The 2004 Amy B. Kahn "Women in IT: Excellence in Leadership" Award
The CIO Collective is very proud to announce the first annual Amy B. Kahn "Women in IT: Excellence in Leadership" Award, to be given to a senior executive whose exemplary career in information technology reflects the energy, candor, accomplishment, and compassion that were the hallmarks of Amy Kahn's professional career.
Amy Beth Kahn was a founding associate of The CIO Collective when she was the CIO for Williams Sonoma and Company in San Francisco, and was serving as a member of Jamcracker's CIO Advisory Board when she was diagnosed with cancer. Amy passed away in January 2001, after a difficult illness, and in her final days, she acknowledged the importance of her recent professional interests, the importance of collaboration and mentoring, the valuable role that IT professionals can play in the broader community.
Those of us who were fortunate enough to be among her colleagues and friends are pleased to organize this memorial to Amy's very unique role in our professional lives.
The award will honor one individual per year who has been nominated by her peers or her employees, and will include both a monetary recognition as well as a presentation at an upcoming conference sponsored by The CIO Collective. Nominees will be acknowledged for their successful careers in IT (public sector, corporate, or non-profit), their dedication to honest dialogue in business, their compassion for teaching/mentoring within their profession, and their interest in the dynamic work relationships between men and women in the workplace.
The Advisory Committee for this award program is: Malka Treuhaft (independent), Beth Clifford (independent), Carol Brown (Indiana University), Debra Stouffer (DigitalNet), Debbie Knight (The World Bank Group), Ellen Pearlman (Ziff Davis Media), Anita Rao (Garage.com), Dr. Telle Whitney (Anita Borg Institute), Afsaneh Naimollah (CHELA Technology Partners LLP), and Maggie Law (PeopleSoft).
